Dr Ronald Tangente is the Head of the Spine and Scoliosis Center of Davao Doctors Hospital. As a spine surgeon, he has been treating a diverse array of spinal conditions for the last 20 years. His expertise deals with complex cervical conditions, kyphoplasty for osteoporotic compression fractures, metastatic spine, minimally invasive spine surgery and spinal deformities. He is the first and only Filipino to be granted as an Associate Fellow in the prestigious Scoliosis Research Society. He is appointed as a member of the Public Health Policy Committee of the Scoliosis Research Society. He has been involved in conventions/workshops both nationally and internationally for so many years serving as a Faculty in the Philippine Spine Society, AOSPINE East Asia, World Spine Summit, and Medtronic Operative Courses.

Dr Tangente graduated 2nd honour in Davao Medical School Foundation. During Post Graduate Internship at Davao Doctors Hospital, he was awarded as the Most Outstanding Intern. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency in the University of the Philippines- Philippine General Hospital. Immediately thereafter, Dr. Tangente underwent Clinical Fellowship in Spine Surgery in the University of Toronto, Canada; Scoliosis Surgery in Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada; Cleveland Clinic, USA and The Spinal Injuries Center in Fukuoka, Japan. In addition to clinical practice, he also teaches Neuroanatomy in Davao Medical School Foundation.

He is the Vice President of the Philippine Spine Society. Furthermore, he is a Council Board Member of the Asia Pacific Spine Society. Dr. Tangente took up a Master in Business Administration in the University of Mindanao. Currently, he is the Medical Director of Davao Doctors Hospital who is responsible for the strategic planning, operations, and setting the direction of the medical service.

Finally, he serves as the President of the Kaugmaran Foundation, a socio-civic organisation that helps the urban poor dealing with housing and educational opportunities.
